Three weeks before her Bat Mitzvah, Laura is given a mysterious diary, written more than sixty years ago in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II. Soon she is swept up in Sara's story - the story of a girl just like herself, whose experience and courage can now help Laura to confront prejudice in her own time.
